About Kenneth S. Allen
DR. KENNETH ALLEN, DR. ANTHONY CARTER and DR. ERIC HYSON are part of the eight-member team at Diagnostic Radiology Associates located in Waterbury, Southbury and Middlebury. DRA offers 3-D mammography, ultrasound, computerizes tomography, 3-T MRI, dexa bone density, x-ray and interventional radiology services. They are the interpreting physicians for the Radiology Department at Waterbury Hospital and their affiliates including Valley Imaging Partners of Naugatuck, Imaging Partners of Waterbury Hospital and the Women’s Imaging Center of Southbury. All images are digital and interact with Waterbury Hospital for efficient record keeping. DRA has provided quality imaging services to the Waterbury community for over 40 years.
Dr. Allen graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. His radiology residency was at Yale-New Haven Hospital and fellowship in MRI, CT and Ultrasound at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is an associate clinical professor at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Allen is the Medical director of the Greater Waterbury Imaging Center and chief of MRI services for Waterbury Hospital and DRA, providing patients with access to low field Open MRI, standard high field MRA at 1.5 Tesla and ultra-high field MRI at 3.0 Tesla.
Dr. Carter, diagnostic radiologist specializing in ultrasound imaging, graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He did a fellowship in ultrasound and CT at Yale-New Haven Hospital and is the chief of ultrasound at Waterbury Hospital. Ultrasound has broad applications - finding gallstones, blood clots, narrowed arteries, appendicitis, breast tumors, thyroid nodules and other conditions. Dr. Carter sees ultrasound as an extension of the physical exam.
Dr. Hyson, an expert in interventional radiology, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He has a special certification in vascular and interventional radiology and is an associate clinical professor at the Yale School of Medicine. He uses diagnostic imaging for mammography, but also performs needle biopsies, drains abscesses, inserts stents and catheters and treats varicose veins, all guided by his understanding of anatomical imaging.
